Skeletal remains found during house renovations at Ipswich west of Brisbane
Skeletal remains have been discovered at an abandoned house at Ipswich, west of Brisbane, but police have confirmed they are not human.
Renovations revealed six small bones buried beneath the floorboards of the old home on Brisbane Street on Monday afternoon.
Forensic police removed the remains this morning for testing and determined they were not human.
However, the tests did not reveal what kind of animal the bones belonged to.
The house, thought to be more than a century old, was originally the town's blacksmith shop.
It was recently sold to a new owner, Allan Wise, who said its previous owner was a World War II veteran who had lived in the house for almost 90 years.
Police said the crime scene was being dismantled and no further police action would be required.
