"It's very mixed emotions at the moment," says race winner Lewis Hamilton. "But we have the greatest fans here. It was you guys who spurred me on.
"At the beginning I allowed him to get a good gap and look after the tyres. But we came out on the harder tyre and could not believe I had that kind of pace.
"I don't want to see a team-mate fail, I want a one-two, but I really needed this result."http://www.bbc.com/sport/0/formula1/28178073

Sebastian Vettel moves alongside on the outside at Brooklands, but Gernando Alonso hangs in there. They then go side-by-side through Woodcote, with Vettel managing to get a better drive on the exit.
They head down towards Copse side-by-side, they get so close without touching, before making it stick through Turn One. What. A. Move. Two champions in their prime.
"Good boy," says Red Bull boss Christian Horne

The yellow flags are out as Nico Rosberg pulls off the circuit. He was pressing a number of buttons on his steering wheel to try and rectify the problem.
But he eventually gives up and climbs out of the car, admitting defeat. That's his first retirement of the season.

Esteban Gutierrez doesn't do himself any favours as he tries an audacious move on Pastor Maldonado into Club. There's not enough space, and he doesn't slow the car down enough, so they make contact.
Maldonado's Lotus is lifted up into the air, the Venezuelan shaking his head in frustration. Gutierrez slides off into the gravel with damage. Maldonado continues.http://www.bbc.com/sport/0/formula1/28178073

Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg are setting near identical lap times at the front of the field.
Meanwhile, Fernando Alonso continues to make progress through the field, passing Nico Hulkenberg around the outside at Brooklands. However, we're hearing that Alonso is under investigation for not being in the correct position on the grid .http://www.bbc.com/sport/0/formula1/28178073

  1. GO! GO! GO!
After a break of more than an hour, the safety car leads the field away to get this British Grand Prix back under way.
  2. 14:04:
Sebastian Vettel has moved onto the hard tyre, as has Fernando Alonso. Both Mercedes, though, are on the mediums.
  3. 14:04:
The skies look bright at the moment with little threat of rain. But who knows what is on the horizon, eh? We will restart the 52-lap race under the safety car, as per the regulations.
  4. 14:03:
Some strong words from Mercedes' non-executive chairman Niki Lauda when talking to Suzi Perry and Eddie Jordan. "Formula 1 is over regulated," he says.
"It's all crazy. To stop the race for one hour because one of the barriers is damaged is ridiculous. They are never going to hit it again.
"The chances of it happening again are zero. They take care of every little detail and a lot of people will switch the television off."http://www.bbc.com/sport/0/formula1/28178073
