CBF doctor confirms Neymar has "no chance" of returning to World Cup
- There are over 200 million fans whose emotions were toyed with when the press in Brazil began to report that there was a slight chance that Neymar would be willing to undergo treatment that would help speed up his recovery. That raised some hopes for his future availability, but also set a great deal of fear in fans that took into account the severity the injury he suffered against Colombia in the World Cup quarterfinals.The reports forced Brazilian national team doctor, Jose Luiz Runco, to come out and quash any rumors. The doctor came out and denied that Neymar had a chance of playing the World Cup final in the event that the Scratch Du Oro advanced past Germany.Dr. Runco confirmed this in an interview with Globo from the Granja Comary complex in Teresópolis. In the interview, he mentioned that there are options for treatment. At the same time, the player does need time to heal and that is the most important thing that is needed at this stage of his recovery.
- The doctor mentioned that there is "no chance" for Neymar to play in the World Cup. He also denied that there would even be a chance. There is a great deal of risk to put a player on the pitch with an injury of his severity. "If (Neymar) suffers another trauma, the injury goes from stable to unstable. We can't give people false expectations."Runco also came out and denied the reports that Neymar would be willing to undergo a series of painkiller and cortizone shots in order to play. He talked about the ridiculous nature of these reports. "Infiltrations are an antiquated technique," he said. "There are also certain medications that could appear in a drug test."Brazil will be playing Germany on Tuesday at the Mineirão in Belo Horizonte. There is a great possibility that former Atlético-MG man and current Shakhtar Donetsk player Bernard would get a chance to start in this match.
