Jet Ski Scam

Potential Jet Ski Scam foiled by Pattaya Port Authorities
A Chinese couple, who were told that they had caused 15,000 Baht’s worth of damage to a Jet Ski after they returned it back to the operator sought assistance from the Pattaya Port Authorities leading to a reduction in the compensation claim and action taken against the operator.

The couple had rented a Jet Ski from Khun Narongdaert aged 21 at the southern end of Pattaya Beach on Thursday afternoon but as they returned to shore the Jet Ski appeared to strike a rock under the water. An inspection determined that some damage had been caused to the front-end of the Jet Ski. Straight away the operator demanded 15,000 Baht to cover the damage which appeared excessive to the Chinese pair.

They were able to contact the Pattaya Port Authorities who took the Jet Ski to the Bali Hai Port for an inspection. They determined the cost of the damage was far less than the 15,000 Baht asked for. They were unable to come to an agreement at the Port so all concerned parties were taken to Pattaya Police Station where the operator agreed to a substantially lower figure of 2,000 Baht. This aroused suspicion that the operator was not comfortable being at the Police Station so further checks on him were made.

The Port authorities confirmed Khun Narongdaert’s operating license had expired and he was also found to be operating in a zone designated for swimmers and not Jet Ski’s. He is now under investigation by the Port authorities

U.S. Spy plane flees

U.S. official: Spy plane flees Russian jet, radar; ends up over Sweden

U.S Cold War aerial games of chicken portrayed in the movie "Top Gun" are happening in real life again nearly 30 years later.

U.S. Air Force spy plane evaded an encounter with the Russian military on July 18, just a day after Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 was downed by a suspected surface-to-air missile that Ukraine and the West allege was fired by pro-Russia rebels in eastern Ukraine.

The RC-135 Rivet Joint fled into nearby Swedish airspace without that country's permission, a U.S. military official said. The airplane may have gone through other countries' airspace as well, though it's not clear if it had permission to do so.

U.S. plane had been flying in international airspace, conducting an electronic eavesdropping mission on the Russian military, when the Russians took the unusual action of beginning to track it with land-based radar.

The Russians then sent at least one fighter jet into the sky to intercept the aircraft, the U.S. official said Saturday.

The spy plane crew felt so concerned about the radar tracking that it wanted to get out of the area as quickly as possible, the official said. The quickest route away from the Russians took them into Swedish airspace. The U.S. official  that was done without Swedish military approval.

Scientist warns

Scientist warns of inevitable solar super-storm propelled towards Earth.

Scientist Ashley Dale from the University of Bristol warns of the “catastrophic” and “long-lasting” impacts of “solar super-storms” and the dangers we face if the threat continues to go unnoticed.

Dale, who was a member of SolarMAX – an international task force set up to identify the risks of a solar storm and how its impact could be minimized, explains how it is only a matter of time before an exceptionally violent solar storm is propelled towards Earth. Such a storm would wreak havoc with our communication systems and power supplies, crippling vital services such as transport, sanitation and medicine. Dale said:

Without power, people would struggle to fuel their cars at petrol stations, get money from cash dispensers or pay online. Water and sewage systems would be affected too, meaning that health epidemics in urbanized areas would quickly take a grip, with diseases we thought we had left behind centuries ago soon returning.

RPG.video of a young boy firing a rocket propelled grenade (RPG) on a beach has shocked many people. But what's the story behind it?

The young boy looks tiny as he stands on a beach, places an RPG on his shoulder and fires. There's a huge bang and smoke billows all around. All the while two adults look on and encourage him.

It's unclear who the boy or the adults are. The video itself has been posted multiple times. Though it's being widely viewed now, it appears to have been first posted at least as far back as January.

Though some of the postings refer to it as a "Palestinian child firing an RPG on Gaza Beach", it actually appears to be from Libya. The accents in the video are Libyan, and some have suggested it may have been on a beach in the Sirte area.
