Gaza conflict: Israel, Palestinian groups agree to new 72-hour ceasefire
Israel and Palestinian groups have agreed to an Egyptian proposal for a new three-day ceasefire in Gaza to start later on Tuesday.
As hostilities resumed following a seven-hour humanitarian pause in some parts of Gaza overnight, representatives of Hamas and Islamic Jihad met Egyptian officials in Cairo.
No Israeli delegates were present but Egypt presented Benjamin Netanyahu's government with Palestinian conditions for a truce in the four-week conflict.
All parties have announced they will agree to a halt in fighting for 72 hours
