Former US president George Bush senior breaks neck bone in fall at home.
Former US president George Bush senior has broken a bone in his neck during a fall at his home in Maine, his spokesman says.
"His condition is stable — he is fine — but he'll be in a neck brace," spokesman Jim McGrath said on Twitter.
Mr McGrath told CNN Mr Bush, 91, was being treated in a hospital in Portland, Maine.
Mr Bush was never disoriented and his stay at the facility was not expected to be long, Mr McGrath said.
Mr Bush spent Christmas Day last year in a Texas hospital after experiencing breathing problems.
The former Republican president served from 1989 to 1993. His term was defined by his aggressive response to Iraqi president Saddam Hussein's invasion of Kuwait in 1990.
He lost the election for a second term to Bill Clinton.
The 41st US president and the oldest of the four living former US presidents, the wheelchair-bound Mr Bush appeared frail in recent public appearances.
