Foreign Correspondent: Scotland's independence referendum could end 300-year union with England
As Glasgow basks in the glory of a Commonwealth Games that so far has gone off almost without a hitch, the real game in Scotland is arguably still to come.
In less than two months, Scots will vote in a referendum that has the potential to bring to an end a political union that has lasted more than three centuries.
On September 18, Scottish residents will go to the polls and say "yea" or "nay" to the proposition, "Should Scotland be an independent country?"
It is a deceptively simple question.
If the Scots vote yes, complex negotiations will begin to exit the United Kingdom.
