skydiver jumps 25000 feet: NO Parachute and lives

US skydiver jumps without parachute into net from 25,000ft

American Luke Aikins has become the first person to jump from 25,000 ft (7,620m) without a parachute, landing safely in a net.

Mr Aikins - who has more than 18,000 jumps under his belt - fell dead centre into the 100x100ft net in Simi Valley, southern California.

During the two-minute fall aired live on Fox television, the 42-year-old reached the speed of 120mph (193km/h).
To loud cheers, he climbed out of the net and hugged his wife and young son.
He  nearly had to cancel the jump because he was ordered to wear a parachute for safety and this would have made his landing more dangerous because of the extra weight.
However, the organisers had lifted the ban just minutes before the jump.
"Aikins' leap represents the culmination of a 26-year career that will set a personal and world record for the highest jump without a parachute or wing suit," his spokesman Justin Aclin said.
Mr Aikins, who is a safety and training adviser for the US Parachute Association, said his friend came up with the idea two years ago.

CIA and SYRIA

CIA director: 'I don't know if Syria can be put back together

The Director of the Central Intelligence Agency, John Brennan, has said that he doesn't know whether Syria can be "put back together again" because there are so many different groups and interests in the country.
He suggested that a future Syria may be a "confederal structure" with the different factions governing their regions.
He also said that there will not be "tranquility in Syria until you're also able to address the Iraq issue", and that there needs to be a clear transition period where it is clear that Assad is "not part of Syria's future".

authorities close to identifying second church attack

France church attack: Authorities close to identifying second attacker

A shrine outside a church in Saint-Etienne-du-Rouvray, France

French investigators believe they are close to identifying the second man who killed a priest in his own church on Tuesday, French media report.

They believe he could be the same person as a man they have been hunting since last week after a tip-off.
One of the two church attackers has already been named by police as 19-year-old Adel Kermiche.
So-called Islamic State has released a video of what it says are the two men pledging allegiance to the group.
Fr Jacques Hamel, 86, had his throat cut in the attack at a church in a Normandy suburb, while a worshipper was left seriously injured.
Both of the attackers were shot dead by police after they took hostages.
Officers are said to have found an ID card at the home of Kermiche belonging to an individual named as Abdelmalik P, from Aix-les-Bains in eastern France.
It is not known whether this is the second attacker, whose face was badly disfigured by the police shooting.
A video released by IS shows two men speaking in Arabic and referring to IS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi. One holds a piece of paper on which the IS flag is printed.
It was posted by the Amaq news agency, the media arm of IS, and has not been verified by French police.
Reports on Tuesday said the men had filmed the attack, but it is not clear where the video posted by Amaq was recorded.
The killing in Normandy came 12 days after the lorry attack in Nice in which 84 people died. The Nice killer also pledged allegiance to IS.

Two senior Turkish generals serving in the NATO force in Afghanistan were detained at Dubai airport on suspicion of links to the attempt to overthrow Erdogan, an official said, speaking on condition of anonymity.

Named  as Major General Mehmet Cahit Bakir, the commander of Turkey's task force in Afghanistan, and Brigadier General Sener Topuc.

In a separate development, police were searching a naval academy just outside Istanbul in a probe into coup plotters.

The attempted putsch of July 15 has sent shockwaves through all aspects of life in Turkey, with institutions from the police to Turkish Airlines and the media.

Some 13,000 people have been detained and over 9,000 of them remanded in custody ahead of trial over the coup, which the Turkish authorities blame on reclusive Pennsylvania-based Islamic preacher Fethullah Gulen

More poison charges for serial killings

Stephen Port: More poison charges for serial killings suspect

Stephen Port

A man accused of murdering four men in east London has also been charged with poisoning, rape and sexual assault.

Stephen Port was charged with four counts of murder last year but the new allegations relate to eight living complainants.
The 41-year-old from Barking denied the charges during a pre trial hearing at the Old Bailey.
He allegedly met the four murder victims on the internet between June 2014 and September 2015.

Mr Port faces 29 charges in total and is set to stand trial on 4 October.
He was originally charged with four counts of murder and four of administering a poison, but at the Old Bailey on Monday prosecutors added six more counts of administering a poison, seven charges of rape and four of sexual assault.
Mr Port now also faces four alternative charges of manslaughter.
These are alleged to have occurred between 2011 and 2015.

apples to deliver a powerful lesson

Teacher uses apples to deliver a powerful lesson about bullying

A British teacher found a simple yet powerful way to show her students that the effects of bullying aren't always seen on the outside.

Rosie Dutton, a coach at Relax Kids Tamworth in Birmingham, England, used a pair of apples to show a group of children how words can hurt.Relax Kids, which gives children ages 4 through 9 strategies to deal with stress and anxiety.
By using two red apples of similar size to illustrate how even though they look similar on the outside, they can be much different on the inside.
Dutton repeatedly dropped one of the apples on the floor without the children knowing and then showed them how the two apples looked the same on the outside. She then said she didn't like the apple she secretly dropped and that the children should call it names.

She followed by praising the other apple and had the children say positive things about it. After holding them both up, she then cut them open to reveal one that was still clear and juicy and another that was mushy, brown and bruised on the inside.
"I think there was a light bulb moment for the children immediately,'' Dutton wrote. "They really got it, what we saw inside that apple, the bruises, the mush and the broken bits is what is happening inside every one of us when someone mistreats us with their words or actions.

When people are bullied, especially children, they feel horrible inside and sometimes don't show or tell others how they are feeling. If we hadn't have cut that apple open, we would never have known how much pain we had caused it."

Dutton also told the children about a personal experience in which someone's unkind words made her feel horrible on the inside even though she was outwardly smiling.
"The tongue has no bones, but is strong enough to break a heart,'' she wrote. "So be careful with your words."

UK:Investigate IS war crimes

Investigate IS war crimes, Johnson urges foreign ministers

Boris Johnson in Washington DC on 21 July 2016

UK Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson has urged allies fighting the so-called Islamic State group to do more to gather evidence of war crimes.

Speaking at a conference in Washington on his first US visit in his new role, Mr Johnson said the UK would lead a campaign to bring the group to justice.
He warned of the potential dispersal of IS fighters around the world after they are pushed out of Iraq and Syria.
Mr Johnson proposed a UK summit to examine how to tackle the new threats.
Addressing foreign and defence officials from about 30 nations involved in the fight against IS, Mr Johnson said more needed to be done to collect evidence in territory the group has lost.
Witnesses would need to be identified and data collected so individuals could be held to account and prosecuted, he said.

North Korea 'fires 'missiles into sea'

North Korea 'fires three ballistic missiles into sea'

North Korea has fired three ballistic missiles into the sea off its east coast, say US and S Korean officials.

The missiles were launched from the Hwangju region, said South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) and flew about 500km (310 miles) to 600km.
The US said the first two were believed to be short-range Scuds while the third was presumed to be a mid-range Rodong.
It comes after the US and South Korea said they would deploy an anti-missile system to counter the North's threats.
The latest launches happened between 05:45 local time (20:45 GMT on Monday) and 06:40, the South's military said, in a statement quoted by the Yonhap news agency.
The US Strategic Command said it had tracked the launches, but that they had posed no risk to US interests.

' ISIS 'soldier' crazed' smuggled

EXCLUSIVE: Brother reveals 'violent, drug-crazed' ISIS 'soldier' Mohamed Lahouaiej Bouhlel

Mohamed Lahouaiej Bouhlel smuggled £84,000 to his family in Tunisia DAYS before murdering 84 in Nice.

Killer: Truck terrorist Mohamed Lahouaiej Bouhlel who murdered 84 on Bastille Day in Nice, was described by his father as 'violent and very ill'

ISIS killer Mohamed Lahouaiej Bouhlel sent his family £84,000 just days before his Bastille Day atrocity,
.
The Islamic fanatic persuaded friends to smuggle the bundles of cash back to his family in their hometown of Msaken, Tunisia.

Although Bouhlel had been sending small sums of money to his family, his brother admitted that they were stunned by the size of the 'fortune'.

'He used to send us small sums of money regularly like most Tunisians working abroad. But then he sent us all that money, it was fortune
.
'He sent the money illegally. He gave cash to people he knew who were returning to our village and asked them to give it to the family.'

He added: 'My brother is not a terrorist.'

His father also insisted that Bouhlel was mentally ill and not a radicalised soldier as claimed today by ISIS.
Mohamed Mondher Lahouaiej Bouhlel, whose son killed at least 84 people on Bastille Day, told how he suffered from severe depression in an interview with French TV BMF.

'From 2002 to 2004 he had problems that led to a nervous breakdown.
'He'd get angry and shout and broke everything in front of him. He was violent and very ill. We took him to the doctor and he was put on drugs.

Bouhlel was already known to police for a history of petty crime, including theft and domestic violence, but he was not under surveillance as a terrorist threat.
His court-appointed lawyer, Corentin Delobel, said he observed 'no radicalisation' whatsoever.

Brexit , trade deal plan.

Brexit free trade deal with Australia

Australia has called for a free trade deal with Britain following its exit from the European Union.

Theresa May described the move as "very encouraging" and insisted it showed Brexit can work for Britain.
In a phone call to the new PM, her Australian counterpart Malcolm Turnbull said he urgently wanted to open up trading between the two countries.
Liam Fox, the new international trade secretary, said he was already "scoping about a dozen free trade deals".
But Britain cannot sign any deals while it is still an EU member.
Theresa May
Mrs May said: "I have been very clear that this government will make a success of our exit from the European Union.

The new minister in charge of Brexit has said the UK should be able to formally trigger its departure from the EU "before or by the start of next year".

US warns Turkey ? we had no involvement

Turkey coup attempt: US warns Turkey

A woman takes a selfie in front a damaged Turkish military APC in Ankara on 16 July, 2016

The US has warned Turkey against "public insinuations" of American involvement in a failed military coup, saying such claims are "utterly false and harmful" to their relations.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has called on the US to extradite US-based Turkish cleric Fethullah Gulen.
Mr Erdogan has accused him of being behind the plot, which Mr Gulen denies.
Mr Gulen told reporters from his home in Pennsylvania that he had been away from Turkey for more than 15 years
The attempted coup began on Friday night when a faction of the military took over key bridges in Istanbul and attacked parliament buildings in Ankara.
The government says 161 civilians and 104 "plotters" were killed in ensuing clashes, and more than 1,440 injured.
Nearly 3,000 soldiers have been detained and some 2,700 judges were sacked on Saturday as the government sought to re-assert its power.

'delivering ice cream' Nice Cops Told

truck terrorist  told police he was 'delivering ice cream'

Chaos: The man, who was previously known to police for violence and theft, is reported to have had assault rifles, a pistol and even a grenade with him in the lorry - but they went undiscovered

  • Truck terrorist Mohamed Lahouaiej Bouhlel, 31, parked on the Promenade for nearly nine hours before massacre

  • Police officers allegedly questioned him but did nothing to move him on and did not search his weapon-filled vehicle

  • Revealed today to be a father-of-three who was living in a shabby flat after separating from his wife two years ago

Anti-terror police searched the shabby flat of truck terrorist Mohamed Lahouaiej Bouhlel today after he massacred 84 innocents on Bastille Day in Nice.
Photographs of the small, run-down flat reveal the disarray left behind by the father-of-three as he headed out to launch his deadly attack on the French city.
A chest of drawers has been torn apart, the drawers piled up loosely, its contents scattered over the floor of the room.
Clothes lie abandoned on the floor by a cupboard, which hangs ajar, and a chair stands forgotten in the middle of the room.

Police today raided the shabby home, where the ISIS fanatic planned the brutal slaughter of holidaymakers and locals as they celebrated on the Promenade des Anglais.
The 31-year-old French-Tunisian was already known to police when he drove a lorry for more than a mile through crowds of revellers on Bastille Day.
Bouhlel, a delivery driver who separated from his wife two years ago, has a criminal record for domestic violence, theft and possession of weapons.
He was also on probation after he recently fell asleep at the wheel and crashed into four vehicles on a highway, it is claimed.
Hauntingly, Bouhlel told police he was delivering ice cream when they questioned why he was parked on the promenade for nearly nine hours before he launched his attack.
But police let him stay parked on the beachfront and failed to check his vehicle - where he had stashed guns and grenades.
Terror: The 31-year-old killer, a French Tunisian, had already come onto police radar for 'acts of violence and use of weapons' after violence following a pub brawl in January

Neighbours of Bouhlel described him as a 'lonely' and 'silent' man, with one saying he never returned their greetings.
As well as past allegations of violent behaviour, Bouhlel was under probation for 15 days after he fell asleep at the wheel and crashed into four vehicles on a highway, it is claimed in Spanish press.
The attacker was shot dead by a police officer, believed to have been female, after he opened fire into a crowd of fleeing people.
His lorry was later found to contain a pistol, a larger weapon and a cache of other weapons and grenades that were later found to be fake.
The streets were closed at 3pm for the Bastille Day celebrations, with no cars allowed in or out of the area while revellers celebrated.
